Sofitel: Good, but...

We arrived for our 3 day stay at 1:30pm and went straight to the parking area and availed of the valet service. Bellhops were attentive enough, even if my boyfriend and I preferred to carry our own luggage.

Checking-in took 45 minutes because of the sheer number of people that day, but the wait was made tolerable by a single floor staff who took the time to serve macaroons to every one in line. He also accommodated our request for 2 glasses of water with LOTS of ice.

The room was pleasant, and although we stayed on the 3rd floor fronting the pool and bay, it wasn't noisy at all. In-room browsing was powered by our mobile hotspots. We feel in-room wifi should be included in room rates nowadays, instead of daily newspapers.

Our stay officially kickstarts with enjoying breakfast buffet in Spirals. We appreciated their selection of fresh fruits for juicing, and champagne to jump our day. Sunbathing by the pool usually follows, and we recommend arriving early since seating space runs out very quickly. Staff is attentive enough, and the placement of a call button per table is very handy for a drink top-up.

Evenings are a different story; since dining options are very limited, and room service food was disappointing. We wanted to order a pizza, but were told at check-in that the hotel does not allow outside food and drinks. We suggest removing this policy since it is a rather significant inconvenience, and goes against the grain of what a hotel is supposed to be - a home away from home.

In-room wifi and outside food policy aside, the stay was relaxing. We will consider staying once again perhaps once these points have been improved upon.
